Job Description

A hugely successful financial services business which has grown 400% in the last five years, has recently appointed a new IT Director who is spearheading a revolution of the organisation’s systems.

To support this rapid expansion, two talented Java Developers are needed to join the existing dev team.

The main Java product is desktop based, integrated across the business, critical to operations and utilises a Swing interface on a MySQL base. Alongside the on-going development of this product, there are incoming large scale projects including a new Software as a Service (SaaS) business model and straight through processing (STP).

Operating in a loosely Agile environment with iterative and Kanban based project management principles, clean coding, OOD and TDD are key focuses.

The site is easily reachable from Manchester, Bolton, Blackburn, Preston, Wigan and Rochdale.

A close-knit organisation, the development team works closely with the business analysis team, and wider organisation in a collegiate fashion.

These posts are well suited to someone with a couple of years’ experience who is deeply interested in technology, enjoys being on the cutting edge of new tech and also communicates well with non-technical colleagues. Opportunities for progression in both career and technical skills are in abundance.

Essential
  • Solid Core Java development experience
  • Good understanding of OOD and Java design patterns
  • Knowledge of SWL / MySQL
Desirable
  • Knowledge of SQL / MySQL
  • Git or similar
  • NetBeans or similar
