On behalf of a client I am partnered with, I have been tasked to help unearth the open minded, high achieving actuaries in the UK.

I appreciate scrolling through job boards can be monotonous, especially for the open minded actuary rather than the actively seeking so what I’m not going to do is give you a list of job requirements akin to a ransom note, rather I’ll write a bit about the firm and see if it ticks a couple of boxes for you, if that works for you, read on..

This firm have an award winning Retirement and Investment division across sectors like the risk settlement group, International Retirement and Investment, longevity modelling, investment, delegated consulting & DC.

Across the UK they have c100 consultants with the most flexible career path I have come across, it’s a culture built on what you want rather than what they want. A phrase they used was “build your own career” which I thought had a good ring to it.

Statistically students here qualify quicker than most; the work/study balance is well balanced unlike a few particularly stretched teams I have come across; they aren’t spread thinly because of the high turnover and they aren’t bringing on actuaries purely because of “growth” – let’s face it, most firms are growing but different to some they have had a number of 2018 client wins which has meant adding the top tier actuary is becoming a necessity rather than just an option.

That’s not to say they aren’t picky – they really are; then again they can be because they are a sought after firm. Having stunning offices across the UK and being the better payers in the market gives them the right to be so.

So simply put, if you are a star in your team who is looking at a top heavy environment with a “where will I be in 2 years” question hanging over your head and you’re not able to answer that succinctly, maybe it’s time you and I have a chat.

The format upon initial meeting is very informal, more fact finding about you and you about them before anything formal gets underway – it’s a soft landing opposed to the 60 questions in under an hour strategy firms I shall not name like to implement.
